Permissions
The IBI‑aws Client for macOS requires the following system permissions.
Local Network
When is it needed?
This permission is required when message files are stored on the local network. The client must access network resources and therefore needs the system permission "Local Network".
Purpose
Access to message files on the same network
Loading centrally managed message files
Client Behavior
On the first launch of the client, a setup assistant opens, where the permission for the Local Network can be granted directly.
If the setup is skipped or the permission is denied, the user can reopen the setup assistant at any time via the tray menu and grant the missing permission later.
Without this permission, message files from the local network cannot be loaded.
Accessibility
When is it needed?
This permission is required when application-specific messages are to be displayed based on the window title of a program. For this, the client must be able to read the windows of other applications.
Purpose
Reading active windows (window titles)
Displaying relevant messages for the current app
Client Behavior
On the first launch of the client, a setup assistant opens, where the accessibility permission can be granted directly.
If the setup is skipped or the permission is denied, the user can reopen the setup assistant at any time via the tray menu.
Without this permission, application-specific messages based on window titles cannot be displayed.
Automation
When is it needed?
This permission is required when application-specific messages are to be displayed based on URLs. The client must be able to read the currently opened URL in the browser.
Supported Browsers
Safari
Google Chrome
Purpose
Determining the currently opened website
Displaying URL-based messages for certain web applications or portals
Client Behavior
On the first launch, the user is guided through the setup assistant, which sets up the required automation permissions.
If this step is skipped or denied, the user can reopen the setup at any time via the tray menu.
Without this permission, reading the current browser URL is not possible.
